Research: Senior Scientist, Analytical Chemistry

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit elusive frontier targets within notorious growth and survival pathways, with particular emphasis on RAS and mTOR signaling pathways. As a new member of the RevMed team, you will join other outstanding scientists who are helping lead our efforts in the discovery and development of new medicines for unmet needs in cancer.


As a key, hands on player in our dynamic chemistry team, you will:

  • Perform program-critical analyses on samples from medicinal chemistry or other sources to provide key information on drug discovery research.

  • Lead and design our analytical method development efforts to advance key small molecule drug candidates. 

  • Develop analytical methods and conduct studies to determine compound purity, stability, and solubility under various conditions and matrices; develop high-throughput medicinal chemistry methods for open-access LC-MS instruments.

  • Apply a wide array of analytical techniques and instrumentation, such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass-spectroscopy, UV/vis/fluorescence microplate-based assays, NMR, and FT-IR, to determine the physicochemical characteristics of selected structure types.

  • As a member of cross-functional project teams, collaborate with chemists, biologists and pharmacologists to generate novel insights that fuel drug development.

  • Establish and manage relationships with CROs where needed and represent REVOLUTION Medicines with external organizations.

Required Skills
  • Ph.D. degree in analytical, pharmaceutical, or a related chemical field, with at least 10 years of relevant industry experience of hands-on analytical method development.

  • Hands-on experience with chromatographic analysis, dissolution testing and hands-on experience in analytical method development; thorough knowledge of techniques required for physicochemical characterization of drug substance.

  • Highly creative and adaptive in problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.

  • Rigorous, quantitative and detail-oriented experimentalist.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and achieve research goals as part of an interdisciplinary team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex scientific findings and recommendations.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize options, anticipate challenges and execute on goals as a member of an interdisciplinary team is extremely important.

  • Innovative team-player with high energy for our fast-paced environment.

  • Experience supporting the pre-clinical to early clinical transition is highly desirable.

  • Experience managing scientific collaborations and CRO outsourcing activities is highly desirable.

  • Evidence of successful coaching, mentorship and development of both individuals and teams in order to build long-term organizational capability
